General Information- Beit al Bawadi

Beit al Bawadi, part of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund, is a non-profit organization embracing 30 artisans whose loyalty and dedication are surpassed only by their talent and innovation. Beit al Bawadi has become a home for young Jordanian artisans, helping them develop their talent by providing them with a chance to expand their artistic vision.

In the summer of 1996, through the initiative of the Jordanian Hashemite Fund for Human Development, Her Royal Highness Princess Basma Bint Talal witnessed the birth of Beit al Bawadi, an organization dedicated to creating and marketing Jordanian handicrafts, while promoting and supporting Jordanian artisans. Since that time, Beit al Bawadi has produced unique handmade collections in an array of traditional colors and modern tones, drawing inspiration from Arab and Islamic civilizations and present-day heritage.

Each unique handmade, lead-free, ceramic, glazed piece carries an aspect of Jordan’s rich culture in its original design, color, and shape. The earthen colors reflected in the various urns are inspired by the Nabatean Rose City of Petra, while the blues in the Turquoise Collection are reflective of the gradiation of color of Aqaba’s Red Sea. The pure 12-carat gold calligraphy of Islamic verses and Arabic proverbs, meanwhile, resonates loudly the richness of Islam’s artistic heritage. Traditional shapes have also taken on a modern twist, bursting with fresh colors, bold lines, and functional uses. One is sure to find a piece to stir the senses from among Beit al Bawadi’s culturally rich handmade handicrafts.
