Artist Statement - Owise Sanajlih

I consider art and life to be irrevocably linked. I believe that beauty is found in the everyday and I yearn to express the simple life in my artwork. I seek beauty from sources such as nature, everyday buildings and Bedouin life. My work is most fulfilling when I capture a simple moment, as it eases my soul and leads to self betterment.

Shadow and light deeply inspire my work and I consider the representation of depth in my paintings to be a celebration of the eyes. When I draw or paint I feel extremely connected with nature, which nurtures my work. Although I paint in the realist tradition, all of my paintings contain imagination, as there can be no inspiration without imagination.
